Traditional Lanna Wedding


Traditional Lanna Wedding at Viang Yonok Hotel. Please write to us if you are interested in a very special wedding day.

Bride and groom arrive by elephant, in a procession of about 50 people in traditional Lanna dress, from the village temple to the hotel. The couple are accompanied by dance girls, musicians, drum dancers, sword dancers, Tung (flag) bearers,  flame-breathers, peacock dancers, flower arrangement (kun mahk) carriers, mythical animal dancer, banana, coconut and sugar cane offering carriers. Silver and golden gate entrance ceremony. Wedding reception with blessing by village elder and holy water pouring ceremony.

Hotel is dressed with tungs and flowers. Bridal room dressed with flowers and offerings. Kan-tok northern Thai lunch. Toasts with Ya Dong (traditional herbal whiskey).

Package includes one night stay in the bridal room, wedding cake, hair-dressing and traditional costume hire, signs, DVD and still photography.

Wedding package; 150,000 Baht (approx US$5000).

Note; If requested, we can also provide evening buffet dinner and live band, cutting of the cake, speeches, dancing. Also souvenirs for guests, invitation cards and transport as required. Wedding special assistant also available.

Airport transfer; From/To Chiang Rai Airport in our 4 wheel drive, takes about 50 minutes, 1000 Baht.

City Hotel transfer; From/To Chiang Rai hotel, one hour, 1200 Baht.

Chiang Khong transfer; (gateway to Laos), 1.25 hours, 1500 Baht. In time for Thai Immigration opening at 08:00.

Chiang Mai transfer also available, 3500 Baht.

(Note; If coming by bus from Chiang Mai, there is one VIP bus a day from Chiang Mai direct to Chiang Saen, 4klms from Viang Yonok).
